SHEATH
CARE
Thank you for your business. With normal
use and a little care your knife sheath will last you a
lifetime. I have given the sheath a waterproof handrubbed
wax finish using Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP Leather
Preservative which is an excellent product and one I
recommend for keeping your sheath waterproofed &
conditioned. You can also use Montana Pitch Blend Dressing
or Sno-Seal but use all of these products very sparingly so
as not to over soften the leather. A light application with
your fingers is all that is needed. These products can be
found in tack shops, sporting goods stores or online.
You should wipe down the blade after use before you sheath
it to avoid crud build-up which will scratch your knife and
can shorten the life of the sheath. You should also store
your knife and sheath separately as all leather naturally
retains some moisture. If the sheath should somehow get wet
be sure to let it dry naturally away from direct heat or
sunlight. I definitely don't recommend using oils or saddle
soap as these products can over soften the leather causing
it to loose it's shape. Also, any product containing animal
fat such as mink oil can turn rancid and cause thread rot.
If you have any questions or problems I would be happy to
address them.
